An Unexpected Turn of Events

So things don't always go as planned! Aly was put on bed rest when she reached 32 weeks + 3 days after a 3 night stay in the hospital. The doctor believes bed rest along with medication will be her best chance of keeping the newly developed pregnancy induced hypertension (gestational hypertension) from turning into preeclampsia! So after a few stressful days of waiting on tests at the hospital and some yummy pancakes from the hospital cafe, Aly was released to the confines of her home.

Not to worry... A nurse visits her every day to do a non stress test to see baby's reactivity, as well as monitor Aly's vitals and check for protein in her urine (which is a sign of preeclampsia). In addition, she has what her mom calls a "command center" that prompts her four times a day to record her blood pressure! It is quite the apparatus...Jeff isn't too fond of it as it can get very repetitive and annoying!

Overall, we're just very thankful to have mom and baby monitored so closely without having to be in the hospital. The plan as of now... Get Aly to 37 weeks pregnant and then deliver!! 37 weeks is now considered full term... If she can make it that far without developing preeclampsia, baby will not be premature. =)
